St. Frances complete undefeated run at huge recruiting event; Mount St. Joseph falls to DeMatha


Adrian Baldwin had 15 points in St. Frances’ victory over Virginia’s St. Stephens & St. Agnes at the DMV Live Period I tournament at DeMatha Catholic Sunday. The Panthers went 4-0 in the weekend event attended by a host of Division I coaches.

St. Frances Academy boys basketball team had a great weekend at DMV Live I tournament at DeMatha Catholic in Prince George’s County. The Panthers won twice Sunday to finish 4-0 in the round robin event.

The defending MIAA A Conference and Baltimore Catholic League champ Panthers defeated Virginia’s St. Stephens & St. Agnes, 69-66, behind 15 points from rising senior guard and Virginia Commonwealth University commit Adrian Baldwin. Jamal West and LSU football and basketball commit Jordan Toles each finished with 13.

The East Baltimore school completed their run with a 54-50 victory over Prince George’s County’s Riverdale Baptist School. Jahmal Banks had 16 points and seven rebounds and Byron Ireland added 11 points and four rebounds.

The Panthers along with host DeMatha went undefeated over the weekend – the first weekend of the summer season NCAA Division I coaches were allowed to evaluate high school prospects. The nationally-ranked Stags defeated Mount St. Joseph, 63-60, Sunday.

Rising senior guard Tyler Brelsford, who’s verbally committed to George Washington, led the Gaels with 18 points and rising junior guard Ausar Crawley added 16 points and three assists.

Mount St. Joseph went 1-3 on the weekend. McDonogh went winless, dropping a 54-36 to Virginia’s Paul VI. Rising junior guard Dave Brown scored 18 points for the Eagles.
