The McDonogh Eagles are well onto their winning ways in the 2011 spring, finishing their Durham, NC trip with wins in three games and a scrimmage against some of the nation’s elite lacrosse squads.
Beginning Friday with a 9-8 scrimmage-win over Landon, McDonogh avenged a 2010 season-opening loss to McCallie (TN) by downing its foe a year later, 15-0, before defeating Highland Park of Texas, Monday, 13-4.
Leading 7-0 at the half, the Eagles allowed just four goals while nearly doubling their own score, much to the work of a tight defense anchored by Bryson Greene, who is headed to Georgetown and Penn recruit Greg Caso, protecting goalies senior Ben Falcone and sophomore Nick Doyle.
Geoff Davis and Navy-bound Kyle Davinney also played a part in the defensive success.
The offense was led by Brenny Daly (Syracuse), Evan Glaser (Rutgers), Keegan Michel (Harvard), Connor Morgan (Hamilton), Brady Faby (Johns Hopkins) and freshman Brinton Vallis.
In the Eagles third win, the team thumped Durham Academy in a 15-3 domination, ending McDonogh’s perfect North Carolina appearance and setting up for the team’s home opener against Haveford (PA), next Saturday, the top-ranked team in the country.
