Tenth-ranked Generals hand the Mavericks their first loss; Generals can create a three-way tie for first in Division I of Baltimore County

Eastern Tech’s run a perfect regular season came to a premature end, Tuesday in Towson, as No. 10 Towson upended the Mavericks, 2-0, in Baltimore County boys soccer action.

In celebration of Senior Day, senior Tommy Pekosz scored both goals for the Generals (8-1) as he converted a penalty kick, with 16 minutes left in the second half, then took a feed from Tre Byrd to lock down the victory with just two minutes to play.

Caden Fong stopped seven shots to earn the shutout in the Towson goal. He got plenty of help from backs of Sean Mathias, Olly Hogg, Riley Wagner and Sean Christensen to keep Tech scoreless.

The victory was huge in the Baltimore County Division I standings, as it improved the Generals’ league record to 5-1 with one regular season contest to play. If Towson can win at Loch Raven on Thursday, it will finish in a three-way tie for first place with Eastern Tech (12-1, 6-1) and Hereford, which wrapped up its league schedule on Tuesday with a 4-2 win over Dulaney. The Bulls (10-1 overall) are also 6-1 in conference play.
