Huskies blank Aberdeen, 2-0, as Pitts strikes out 14

In what was a pitcher’s duel, No. 5 Patterson Mill won its softball season-opener, Monday, with 2-0 UCBAC non-league victory over Aberdeen.

The Huskies scored their first run in the first inning when lead off batter Adriana Brown was hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced home on an error. The second run was scored by Dakota Pitts, who reached with a double and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly ball to right by Abby Laurentius.

Pitts also had a big day on mound, earning the shutout with 14 strikeouts. Aberdeen pitcher Mackenzie Greco was nearly as good and topped Pitts’ strikeout total with 15 punch outs. With only three walks between the two teams five hits combined by the two teams, the pitcher’s stole the show in the opener.
