St. Vincent Pallotti took a little time to find the end zone, but it used a potent rushing attack to grind out an important 21-14 MIAA C Conference football victory over host Baltimore Lutheran, Friday in Towson.

The win allowed the Panthers to square their season record at 4-4 and stay live in the C Conference title chase, where they stand at 2-1.

After a scoreless first period, Lutheran (5-2, 1-2) stuck first, with defense, as Jay Davis recovered a fumble and carried 56 yard to the end zone to give the Saints a 7-0 lead, in the second quarter.

Pallotti countered with a 20-yard touchdown run by A.J. Bright, who rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns in the contest.  The Panthers had a 1-2 punch in the running game, as Tyler Drew rushed for an additional 142 yards and scored on a 50-yard run to give Pallotti a 14-7 lead at the in the third quarter.

Bright broke off a 48-yard TD run to push the Panther advantage to 21-7.  Lutheran rallied in the fourth with an 80-yard scoring play as Dave Dooley was on the receiving end of Aaron Ames’ touchdown throw, but the Saints would get no closer.

Pallotti now will prepare of a critical showdown with undefeated Annapolis Area Christian, next Friday at Fairland Regional Park.  The Panthers battled the Eagles to the closing minutes earlier this month in a 28-21 loss.  Pallotti needs a win to say in the title chase.
