Calvert Hall football standout becomes latest local product bound to College Park
Calvert Hall College senior football defensive linemen Daniel Owens announced his commitment to the University of Maryland on Twitter Wednesday evening.
Owens, 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, pledged to the Terps over Penn State, Rutgers and Syracuse. He’s the fourth Baltimore area performer committed to the state school, joining McDonogh School quarterback/receiver/safety Preston Howard and Archbishop Spalding’s Kellan Wyatt (linebacker) and Lavin Scruggs (safety).
Owens has helped the fourth-ranked Cardinals to a 6-1 mark this season (2-1 in MIAA A). Calvert Hall plays at No. 3 Mount St. Joseph in a key MIAA A match Saturday afternoon.
