Outlook: South River looks to take a major step in its pursuit of a state playoff berth. The Seahawks rebounded from a week four pounding by No. 4 Broadneck with a 43-0 victory over winless Northeast. Lavon Chaney rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns, and Shane Lee passed for 154 yards and two scores.
South River currently stands fifth in the Class 4A East Region, which has unbeaten Arundel and North Point at the top followed by Old Mill and Broadneck. The four teams in the region qualify for the postseason.

Since a season-opening loss to No. 2 Arundel, Old Mill has outscored its opposition, 174-25. Old Mill won last season’s meeting with South River, 45-7.
