Heinze leads Hawks with eight saves

Mill Heinze had a big night in goal for North Harford.

North Harford battled from behind in the second half, Friday, in its 2A East Region Section I Quarterfinal boys soccer battle with Rising Sun to defeat Rising Sun in penalty kicks.

Rising Sun scored in the first half to go on top, but the Hawks got the equalizer with just 20 minutes to play in regulation on a tally by Justin Gue. The teams remained knotted 1-1 through regulation and a pair of overtime periods.

North Harford claimed the penalty kick shootout, 4-2, as Henry Mejia, Javier Mejia, Dylan Jablon and Matthew Beiderman converted for the Hawks.

After the early goal, Mill Heinze was strong in the North Harford cage, stopping eight shots. He also stopped the first shot on the shootout to get his team off to a fast start.

The Hawks will travel to Harford Tech on Tuesday for a sectional semifinal game as they seek to advance further in the 2A East bracket.
