The Seton Keough basketball team was scheduled to fly to Dallas last week to compete in the Sandra Meadows Tournament, but the Gators were forced to change their plans when snow grounded their flight.
The No. 2 Gators, however, scrambled to find games and ended up posting a 4-0 record while competing in two different events.
On Dec. 27, the Gators filled in for another travel stranded team in the BBOWS Holly & Hoops event, defeating Archbishop Carroll (D.C.), 57-35.
Then, the Gators were able to find a spot in the Ronald Curry & Boo Williams Classic in Hampton, VA, where they went 3-0 and won the title.
The Gators opened with a 66-28 win over previously unbeaten Heritage (VA), and then routed Lansdowne (VA), 47-19. In the final, Keough met River Mill Academy of Graham (NC) and rolled won 67-59. River Mill came into the contest with a record of 16-0 and are in first place in the Carolina NINE 2A/1A Conference.
Seton Keough senior guard Amber Singletary was selected the tournament’s MVP.
