Tigers prevail in four sets as UCBAC volleyball powers clash in Cecil County

In a contest of the two undefeated UCBAC teams on Tuesday evening, No. 9 Rising Sun defeated visiting Bel Air in four sets, 25-18, 27-25, 13-25, 25-20, in Cecil County.

No. 9 Rising Sun (6-0 overall) has not lost a match in the conference in five- plus seasons, and the No. 12 Bobcats (6-1 overall) could not end the streak.

Sophia Eckerd led the Tigers with 15 kills. She also won 55% of her service points and delivered eight aces.

Lauren Hudson and Emily Jackson combined for 13 kills, while Jackson, Megan Hoyle and Breelyn Young all won more than 50% of their serves while combining for 13 aces. Hoyle led Rising Sun with 18 assists and Jackson had 10.

Despite a great blocking performance by 6-foot-3 junior McKenna Reiswig (7 blocks), Bel Air committed too many serving errors (11), and couldn’t withstand the constant attack from the Tigers.

The pivotal moment came with the scored tied 25-25 in the second set, as Bel Air attempting to even the match at a set apiece. Rising Sun, however, scored the next two points to take the commanding 2-0 edge.

Leading the Bel Air attack was junior Reiswig (6 kills), sophomore Maddie Reagan (5 kills, 2 aces), senior Megan Hoy (4 kills) and junior Sarah Markland (3 assists, 5 aces). Other key contributors for the Bobcats were senior Radhika Patel (18 digs), junior Olivia Simon (10 assists, 3 blocks), senior Brooke Myers (4 kills, 4 blocks) and senior Erin Kenney (2 kills, 5 blocks).
