Cougars improve to 3-1 with a win over Old Mill

With a strong defensive effort and two clutch goals in the second half, No. 6 Chesapeake-AA improved to 3-1 in 2017, with a 3-0 shutout of Anne Arundel County field hockey rival Old Mill, Thursday.

Eryn Beal led the Cougars with a pair of goals, including one scored on a penalty stroke. Rachel Fleig also scored and Logan Beal had an assist.

Despite the tight score, Chesapeake dominated the scoring opportunities, leading Old Mill 12-1 in corners and 15-2 in shots. Eve Vickery saved two shots in goal, as the Cougars recored their second consecutive shutout.

Old Mill (2-2) received 12 saves from Ashleigh Bathras. The Cougars will host Delmar (DE) on Saturday night, while Old Mill’s next contest is next Thursday, at home, against South River.
