Sidwell Friends downs Clippers in Bracket 4 championship game
Sidwell Friends School, which won the Bullis Holiday Invitational a couple of weekends ago added more championship hardware Thursday afternoon in Salisbury, winning the Bracket 4 title at the Governor’s Challenge with a 66-55 victory VSN’s fourth-ranked Patterson.
The Clippers (6-2) trailed by seven at the half and made a slight push in the third quarter, before the Quakers closed them out with a strong final quarter.
Patterson got a brilliant 27 point performance from senior star Marvin Price in the loss, but that did not overcome the 32 points scored by Sidwell Friends’ Jason Gibson. Gibson, the MVP of the bracket, connected on five three-pointers and was 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Jack Lewis added a double-double for the Quakers, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Patterson got little offensive production behind Price, with Zaccheus Blackwell and Gerard Mungo combining for 17 points.
