Each scheduled to meet a team from the Washington, D.C. area, a scheduling changed found No. 4 McDonogh and Dunbar matched against each other Monday evening on the first day of the BBOWS Holly & Hoops Mixer, at McDonogh, and the host Eagles dominated the contest, 72-37.
Senior Candice Hendericks continues to have a sensational season and she once again led the Eagles in scoring with a game-high 15 points.
Senior Taryn Duran and junior Tiersa Winder were not far behind, scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively, while junior Marin Kobb pitched in with seven points.
McDonogh was outstanding from the free throw line as well, converting 15-of-19 attempts.
The Eagles all but locked up the contest in the first half, as they raced out to a 34-15 lead while improve to 7-2 overall.
Michelle Wright paced the Poets with a dozen points.
