No. 4 Chesapeake-AA kicked off its 2019 softball season in a big way, Monday, ripping Anne Arundel County foe Meade, 19-0, in five innings.

The Cougars collected 13 hits and scored all of their runs in just four at bats. Freshman catcher Allison Pollack had a huge debut, going 3-for-4 and driving in three runs, all while catching a one-hit shutout gem authored by three different Cougar pitchers.

Haley Downin, who made the start in the circle and threw the first three innings, with eight strikeouts, to earn the win, got it done at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with two RBI’s. Sophomore Tristyn Stewart also had two hits and freshman Norah Hart added a pair of RBI’s.

Chesapeake score six in the first and followed up with seven in the second to take full control.

Simi Lyons prevented the no-hitter by getting the only hit for Meade.
