No. 3 Howard High is on a historic run in Howard County football as the Lions continue to dominate their league rivals, thumping host Oakland Mills, 40-6, Friday night. It was the Lions won for 29th consecutive win against Howard County competition.
Sophomore Devin Dawkins rushed for a whopping 267 yards and 3 touchdowns, including the first two of the game, in the victory.
Howard (5-0 overall and Howard) established complete control of the contest by the halftime intermission as quarterback Robby Porter added a 10-yard TD run and Dawkins added his third score, in the second quarter, to push the Lions in front, 27-0.
Lions coach Bruce Strunk turned to his reserves for much of the second half, as DJ Joward and Robert Agbai each contributed touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to cap the Howard scoring.
Jorie Kolliegbo got Oakland Mills (2-3, 2-3 Howard) on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter with a 10-yard TD run.
