The No. 20 Glenelg Country boys basketball team had a comfortable, 43-24 halftime lead over Washington-Lee on Monday in the opening round of the George Long Holiday Tournament at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va.

But the Generals were not going to go quietly.  The Arlington-based school outscored the Dragons 22-6 in the third quarter before Glenelg Country put the game away late, 71-63 to advance to the next round.

Junior forward Isaiah Miles scored a game-high 22 points.  Sophomore forward Warren Powers added 18 points and junior center Lawrence Davis contributed 15 more.

The Dragons improved to 8-1 overall on the season and will face West Potomac today at 4:30 p.m.

Despite being outscored handily in the third, Glenelg Country still held a slim 49-46 advantage entering the fourth quarter.  The Dragons were able to pick the energy back up and outscore Washington-Lee, 22-17 to close out the game.
