Fichtner and Lawn each score twice Cavaliers blank John Carroll, 5-0

The second-ranked Archbishop Spalding field hockey team is on a roll.

The Cavaliers have not lost since a 2-1 setback to top-ranked Notre Dame Prep, back in mid-September, pick up their seventh consecutive win, Wednesday, blanking John Carroll, 5-0, in IAAM A Conference action.

Katie Fichtner and Margot Lawn each scored two goals to lead Spalding and Lawn also added two assists. Arianna Shea also had a nice game with one goal and one assist, while Lily Grant and Jules Ramey also contributed assists.

Jess Wallace and Sophie Somerville each had one save to share the shutout in the Spalding goal, while Alexis Loder stopped 12 shots to keep John Carroll in the contest.

With two regular season games to go, Spalding is 12-2 overall and 5-1 in the A Conference, as it seeks to lock down the second seed for the playoffs.

John Carroll slipped to 1-8 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
