Archbishop Spalding’s field hockey team jumped out to a quick lead and held off IAAM A Conference rival St. Paul’s SfG, 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Goals by Summer Liberto and Kelsey Bonner, assisted by Andrea Scardina and Kendall Garden respectively, helped the Cavaliers (2-0 overall, 1-0 IAAM A) gain a 2-0 advantage in the first half.
Catherine Keniston added another score later while goalie Melissa Rize made five saves and Julia Webb stopped two shots for Spalding.
Lee Burch scored on a goal assisted by Katie Fischer for the Gators (0-1, 0-1). Goal keeper Carrera Lucas had 13 saves in St. Paul’s opening game of the season.
