Scorpions roll behind Norton and Evans


No. 19 Oakland Mills came out of the locker room ready to play, Friday, as the Scorpions went on the road and built a 45-24 halftime lead on Mount Hebron and came home with a 73-63 Howard County boys basketball victory.

Truth Norton, who has scored in bunches all season for the Scorpions, hit three three-pointers and lead the way with a game-high 29 points. Barry Evans added 20 and Ahmed Diaby finished with 17 points. Diary also hit three three-pointers.

Mount Hebron had a strong third quarter, outscoring Oakland Mills 19-9, but it was too little, too late. Will Bates led the Vikings with 20 points and Christopher Lewis scored 13.

The Scorpions (11-2 overall) remain in first place in Howard County with a 7-1 league record. Mount Hebron (4-9 overall) slipped to 1-7 in the County.
