Atholton’s ground game could not be stopped in its 40-0 victory over host Mount Hebron on Friday night.

Junior running back Kenny Thomas rushed for three touchdowns and Andrew King ran for 102 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries for the Raiders (1-0).

Junior quarterback Brian McMahon made his first start after taking over for departed signal caller Kalvin Seamonson (Maryland). McMahon went 4 of 11 passing for 120 yards and hooked up with Adam D’Amico for a 21-yard touchdown pass.

Kendall Newsome scored from 12-yards out to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter.

The defense was led by senior linebacker Anthony Ernest who made 10 tackles. Junior Ean Katz had nine tackle and blocked two punts while Richard LaFleur also had nine stops.  Defensive back Curtis Pumphrey has two sacks and junior Wade Lee picked off a pass.

Next up for the Raiders is a matchup with Hammond at home.  The Vikings will travel to Howard.  Both games will be played on Friday night.
