Franklin, ranked No. 14 in the VSN football poll, opened its season Friday night with an impressive, 31-12, road win over Bel Air.
The Indians were led by senior Mark Venable’s 183 total yards, which included two touchdowns. He also had 10 Tackles and and forced a fumble on defense.
Senior quarterback Joey Doresy also had a good game, throwing for 211 yards and one touchdown. Junior Ian Thomas, who had 102 yards receiving, was his favorite target.
Ryan Bacote had an interception, while Nick Tawney, Tyler Barnes and Josh Sherer all recovered fumbles for the Indians, with Sherer’s going for a touchdown.
Senior Jake Gibson connected on a 38 yard field goal for Franklin and was perfect on all four of his extra-point attempts.
