Bobcats win in four sets as Springer and Couch set the tone


No. 14 Bel Air received an inspired challenge from C. Milton Wright, Thursday on the Bobcats home court, but survived with a four set UCBAC Chesapeake Division volleyball victory.

After winning the first set by a comfortable 25-17 margin, the Bobcats dropped the second set 25-19. C. Milton Wright continued to play with intensity, but Bel Air was able to secure wins of 25-16 and 25-20 in the next two sets to secure the match victory.

Bel Air was led by senior setter Mackenzie Springer (4 aces, 12 assists, 5 digs, 3 kills, 2 blocks), senior Lexi Couch (12 kills, 5 digs, 1 block), senior libero Autumn Grimsley (21 digs, 3 aces), junior defensive specialist Lexi Bell (5 digs, 3 aces), junior Anaiah Lewis (3 kills), and senior outside Julia Stoneberg (4 aces).

The Mustangs were led by Jayda Patterson (13 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces, 1 block), Libby Gross (23 assists, 3 aces, 11 digs, 1 kill), Maddie Duffalo (4 kills, 5 digs, 2 aces), Miranda Turner (1 kill, 3 digs), Ana Mioduski (3 kills, 1 dig, 1 block), Lauren Childress (10 digs), Tayler Quinn (3 digs, 2 aces), and Olivia Nelson (12 digs , 1 ace).
