The top-ranked Glenelg field hockey team had little trouble dispatching of visiting Patuxent on Wednesday, claiming a 6-0 victory to win the Class 2A South regional crown.
All six of the Gladiators’ (17-1) goals came from a different player. Alyssa Parker, Kayleigh Hinkle, Mary Kate Olson, Stephanie Asher, Meagan Guthrie and Emily Russo, all scored a goal for Glenelg, which has been completely dominate during their run to the Regional title.
Parker added two assists, while Olson and Hinkle both added one each. Keeper Christy Bishop wasn’t challenged but made one save.
The Gladiators have not allowed a single goal in any of its three playoff games, claiming wins over McDonogh (18-0), Marriotts Ridge (7-0) and another shutout of Patuxent on Wednesday.
Glenelg won the Howard County title after finishing the regular season with a perfect 11-0 league mark and followed up that feat with a 2-1 victory over then-No. 1 Severna Park in the District V Championship.
River Hill will now face Fallston (Harford County), which won the 2A North title with a 2-1 overtime victory over Bel Air. That state semifinals contest will take place at Franklin High School on Monday at 7 p.m. with the title game being played at Washington College on November 13th.
