Jordan Cargile went 2 for 3 with an RBI and pitched a four-hitter and Giselle Alvarez hit a home run as top-ranked Eastern Tech High defeated Franklin, 5-0, in a Class 3A North Region softball quarterfinal match Monday.
In a tight 1-0 contest through four innings, the Mavericks (18-0 overall) put up a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth inning to advance to Wednesday’s region semifinal round. The Baltimore County school will host Bel Air on Mace Avenue. Bel Air defeated Towson in a quarterfinal match Monday.
Cargile, a junior, struck out 11. Lindsey Meyers had an RBI and sister Allison went 2 for 2 and scored a run.
