In many respects Towson high school played top-ranked Bryn Mawr on even terms in the 2010, field hockey season-opener for both schools, on Friday. The Mawrtians, however, showed the stronger ability to finish opportunities and that was the primary difference in their 3-0 victory over the Generals.
Caroline Joy assisted on two scores for the defending IAAM A Conference champions. Her pass to Lili Turner gave the Mawrtians the lead for good, just two minutes into the contest, and she fed Nancy Swindell for the second BMS goal.
Eliza Clemens scored the final Bryn Mawr goal and she was assisted by Josie George with less than two minutes to play in the contest.
Megan Pullin was outstanding in the Towson goal, stopping 12 shots, including several from point blank range. Bryn Mawr’s Claire Edleman was not tested as often, but she also came up big when challenged.
