Paki Brown for 101 yards and a touchdown as 12th ranked Dunbar routed Institute of Business and Enterprise, 68-0, in a Baltimore City non-divisional matchup Thursday afternoon. Brown was one of nine players who crossed the end zone for the Poets (6-1 overall), whose point output is the highest this season in the area.
Paki and Charles Brown scored on touchdown runs in the first quarter and Deontay McManus caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Rashad Estep. Terrence Williams returned an interception 38 yards for a score, and Jaquan Holt scored from 18 yards out, extending Dunbar’s lead to 36-0 at halftime.
Lavar Highsmith scored on a 12-yard run and James Staten threw a 35-yard pass to Ernest Hawkins in the third quarter. Malik Jones returned a blocked punt 30 yards and Brian Martin ran 22 yards for a score in the fourth quarter to complete the rout.
Estep completed four of six passes for 107 yards, and Epe Henriques had 10 carries for 87 yards. Travon Garrett led Poets’ defense with 11 tackles and Marvin Gross added two quarterback sacks. Dunbar hasn’t allowed a touchdown in the last 11 quarters.
Dunbar return to city league Division I play next Saturday with a first-place showdown against Edmondson at Poly’s Lumsden-Scott Stadium. The Poets won last year’s meeting, 6-0.
