With two consecutive IAAM A Conference titles in the vault, Mount de Sales began its quest to win the Maryland/DC Private Schools volleyball tournament, Wednesday evening, as the Sailors swept Stone Ridge Sacred Heart, 25-12, 25-12, 25-15.
Hannah Schmidt picked up right where she left off in the IAAM finals with 13 kills, three aces and four digs. Also, Caroline Casey added eight kills, Chelsea Owensby had 24 assists to go with four aces, six digs and three kills and Taylor Beaumont had six kills. In addition, Katie Delaney served up 11 straight winners, including four aces, and Megan Sedney had 11 digs.
Mount de Sales moves on to the semifinals on Friday when it will host Holy Cross, which defeated the Maryland School for the Deaf in four games.
In last night’s other quarterfinal matches, fourth-seeded Seton Keough traveled to Washington, D.C. and swept St. John’s (DC) to advance to the semifinals against top-seeded Good Counsel, which also won in three games against National Cathedral.
Keough and Good Counsel will square off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, also at Mount de Sales. The championship match will be held at Mount de Sales on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
