Ashley Spivey, who was honored as VarsitySportsNetwork’s Girls Soccer Player of the Year shortly after the 2010 and 2011 seasons, received another prestigious honor this week as she was named the 2011-12 Gatorade Maryland Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Spivey, who was the leader of a McDonogh squad which was nationally ranked, helped the Eagles capture the 2011 IAAM A Conference championship by scoring 18 goals and adding 16 assists. 

In her high school career, she scored 76 times and added 59 assists.

Her soccer career will continue in the fall at the University of Maryland and she is also a member of the U.S. Soccer U18 Women’s National Team.
