McDonogh’s boys basketball team did what Calvert Hall could not in the overtime session of their contest on Tuesday evening; they scored.

Senior point guard Denzel Walker contributed three points in overtime to help the Eagles defeat the Cardinals, 52-49.  The loss was the third straight for Calvert Hall.

McDonogh improves to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the A Conference, while the Cardinals fell to 3-4 and 0-1 respectively.

The Eagles trailed for most of the game but used tough, second half defense to get back into the game.  They fought to tie the score 49-49 at the end of regulation.

Walker scored a bucket to give McDonogh a two-point lead.  Calvert Hall’s Denzel Richardson (14 points), being guarded by Joel Jorgenson, tried to answer but his shot missed and Walker grabbed the board.  Walker made a free throw to provide the win for his team.

Forward Kayel Locke scored 24 points and BJ Andrews, playing through a stomach virus, added 14 for the Eagles, who played without senior captain Robby Weingart (14 ppg).
