Eagles advance with convincing win over then-No. 1 Archbishop Spalding; Sparrows Point and Roland Park Country debut


The McDonogh School girls soccer team returned to a familiar spot – at the top of the local girls soccer rankings, as the Eagles blanked previous No. 1 Archbishop Spalding to move up in the VSN Girls Soccer Week 5 Top 20.

Undefeated Marriotts Ridge also moved up, to No. 2, and No. 3 Broadneck advanced three positions. St. Paul’s School also made a big jump, going from No. 8 to No. 4, while Spalding stayed in the Top 5 at No. 5.

Sparrows Point, a fixture near the top of the rankings for the last several years, is back in the poll this week at No. 15 and Roland Park Country School debuted at No. 17.
