McDonogh’s boys lacrosse team got off to a quick start in Tuesday afternoon’s game against host Archbishop Spalding.
Midfielder Keegan Michel scored off the opening faceoff and the No. 3 Eagles ran away with a 14-4 victory.
Three different McDonogh players accounted for four or more points in the win. Connor Morgan scored five goals to pace the Eagles (7-1 overall, 3-0 MIAA A).
Michel added three goals and an assist, while Evan Glaser had three assists and a goal. Brady Faby had two goals and a helper.
After Michel’s goal just 12 seconds into the game, McDonogh ran off the next seven goals to build a commanding 8-0 lead with 10:09 left in the first half.
A minute later, midfielder Conor Pequigney got the host Cavaliers (2-4, 1-2) on the board with a score to cut into the lead but the Eagles were too strong. Nick Altmann and Bruce Overbay both scored goals in the second quarter for Spalding.
Next up for McDonogh is a game on the road at Loyola, while Spalding hosts St. Mary’s. Both contests are scheduled for Friday.
