Welcome to Varsity Sports Network’s 2010 preseason Top 20 field hockey poll.  VSN ranks the top teams in the Baltimore region which covers public and private schools in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Cecil County, Harford County and Howard County.

Player to watch: Cecilia Depman, Sr., Midfielder

2. Severna Park (16-2)

Player to watch: Madeline Ross, Sr., Forward

Quick stroke: Anne Arundel power is retooled and primed to win a 20th state title under coach Lil Shelton.

 

3. Garrison Forest School (17-2-2)

Player to watch: Cody Magness, Sr., Forward

Quick stroke: Grizzlies will be in hunt for third IAAM A crown in four years

 

4. South River (16-2)

Player to watch: Stacey Mackintosh, Jr., Defender

Quick stroke: Seahawks out to take next step after losing to Severna Park in region finals last fall.

 

5. Westminster (18-1)

Player to watch: Emily Colliflower, Sr., Goalie

Quick stroke: The Owls look for redemption after a shot at perfection was ruined by Severna Park in last year’s Class 4A state finals.

 

6. Fallston (16-3)

Player to watch: Christina Conrad, Sr., Forward

Quick stroke: Cougars seek fourth state championship and 13th overall, led by Drexel University-commit and Futures Elite performer Conrad.

 

7. Broadneck (14-2)

Player to watch: Paige Duncan, Sr., Forward

Quick stroke: Bruins ready for run at Class 4A state crown after being denied by South River in East Regionals last year.

 

8. Hereford (16-2)

Players to watch: Allie Hackbarth, Sr., Forward/Attack; Gabby Vorwald, Sr., Defense; Marisa Betsill, Jr., Goalie

Quick stroke: With new coach in Tammy Mundie, young Bulls look defend Class 3A state crown.

 

9. Century (17-2)

Player to watch: Jill Remenapp, Sr., Midfielder

Quick stroke: Knights look to get over championship hump after falling in state finals two of last three seasons..

 

10.  Glenelg (16-3)

Player to watch: Alyssa Parker, Jr., Forward

Quick stroke: Led by Future Elite performer Parker, Gladiators seek seventh Final Four trip in last 11 seasons.

 

11. Notre Dame Prep (14-5-1)

Players to watch: Kelsey Gahan, Sr., Midfielder; Anne Federico, So., Attack; Elise Liberto, Jr., Attack; Meaghan Smith, Jr., Attack; Lauren Young, Jr., Midfielder; Erin Seipp, Sr., Attack

Quick stroke: Blazers will be in the mix in deep IAAM A Conference.
