Junior first basemen Natalie Bates homered and sophomore centerfielder Bella Schwing finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, leading top-ranked Eastern Tech High to an 8-5 victory over No. 8 C. Milton Wright in a non-league softball contest in Baltimore County Monday.
Sophomore catcher Miranda Burton had two hits and scored twice for the Mavericks (15-1 overall), who avenged a loss at C. Milton Wright last spring which snapped their 86-game regular season winning streak. The Mace Avenue school is 101-2 in its last 103 regular season since the opening month of the 2012 campaign.
Amaya Chmielski drove in two runs, and Senior pitcher Jodie Bronushas allowed two earned runs on seven hits for Eastern Tech, which plays No. 3 Hereford in the Baltimore County final Tuesday afternoon at Catonsville Community College.
