Gaby Tana (Maryvale) and Alex Price (Marriotts Ridge), both seniors, were recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America team.
To be selected for the honor, a student-athlete must be stellar on the field but also in the classroom by maintaining a 3.75 grade point average.
Price was selected as the Howard County Player of the Year in 2010. She led her Mustangs to a 13-3-1 overall record and the program’s first league championship.
Tana, an All-Metro selection last season, helped her team to a 6-9-2 record in arguably the top league in Maryland (IAAM A Conference). Tana will move on to Loyola University in the Fall to play soccer.
Last season, Maryvale coach Colin Devlin put his complete roster forward for the NSCAA team academic acheivement award, which they won on the first ballott with a combined 3.9 grade point average.
