Besi Sheshi scored a game-high 26 points and Carolyn Hildreth added 20, leading Maryvale Prep to an 82-44 decision over the Institute of Notre Dame in an IAAM B Conference contest Monday evening.
After losing to unbeaten Linganore of Frederick County at the North Carroll Holiday Tournament last week, the Lions won their first game of 2011 to return the .500 mark (5-5 overall, 3-1 IAAM B). After a close first quarter, the Brooklandville school dominated the final three quarters.
The Lions outscored IND, 30-13, in the second quarter to take a 43-19 advantage into intermission. Carolyn Hildreth and sister Meghan combined to score 19 points.
Maryvale extended the lead to 58-24 after three periods as senior guard Ashley Helmrath and Lauren Eckholm each finished with 11 points. Aimee Petrides scored a career-high 17 points for IND (0-9, 0-5 IAAM B).
The Indians host No. Notre Dame Prep Wednesday evening. Maryvale host Mount de Sales Academy Wednesday afternoon in a battle for first in the Gold division.
