Georgetown Prep entered its Saturday matchup with arch-rival Gonzaga (DC), unbeaten and unscored upon, but the Little Hoyas fell hard to an impressive Eagle running game, 42-21.
Gonzaga senior D’Lante Martino owned the contest, which was part of the Great American Rivalry Series, as he rushed for three touchdowns before a capacity crowd on a picture perfect afternoon at Prep. He was named the Great American Most Valuable Player of the Game.
Quarterback Kevin Hogan also ran for a score and threw for another in the Gonzaga victory.
Georgetown Prep now must make some adjustments in its run defense prior to its MIAA A Conference opener next Saturday at Gilman. Things will not get any easier trying to stop Darius Jennings and company.
