Marriotts Ridge High, enjoying one of its finest seasons, is back in VSN Football Top 20. The Mustangs  (6-2 overall) are No. 20 after making its first-ever VSN Top 20 appearance following its first victory over Howard County rival River Hill.

The Howard league title is up for grabs heading into the final week of regular season play with Marriotts Ridge (6-1 HoCo) and River Hill (7-1 HoCo) each with a loss. The UCBAC Chesapeake title will be decided Friday with unbeaten and No. 12 Elkton and 17th-ranked and undefeated Harford Tech meeting in Bel Air.

The UCBAC Susquehanna title will be decided as North East (5-1 Susquehanna) plays at Rising Sun (5-1 Susquehanna) Saturday afternoon in Cecil County. No. 7 Mervo (Baltimore City Division I), 9th-ranked South River (Anne Arundel), No. 15 Westminster (Carroll County Athletic League), Reginald Lewis (Baltimore City Division II).

No. 18th Parkville (4A) and No. 11 Milford Mill Academy (2A) have clinched in Baltimore County. No. 6 Franklin can secure the county 3A Division title with victory over Woodlawn Friday.

The MIAA playoff picture will be set this weekend. In the B, Archbishop Curley plays at John Carroll School, with winner gaining the No. 3 postseason seed and the loser 4th. No. 13 St. Vincent Pallotti and 14th-ranked St. Mary’s are the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively.

The No. 2 seed in the A Conference is still up in the air. No. 3 Mount St. Joseph hosts fifth-ranked Spalding Saturday afternoon, and the Gaels can get the No. 2 seed and a home semifinal next week with a win. Calvert Hall would be 3rd and Spalding the 4th seed.

A Spalding win would create a 3-way tie between Calvert Hall, St. Joe and the Cavaliers (all would be 2-2). Since all three lost to McDonogh, which has No. 1 seed, and no head-to-head tiebreaker (Calvert Hall beat Spalding, and Mount St. Joseph beat Calvert Hall), the team with the lowest point margin average in its two losses would get the No. 2 seed. The team with next lowest margin would be 3rd.

Nationally-ranked St. Frances Academy remains No. 1 followed by McDonogh School, Mount St. Joseph, Calvert Hall College and Archbishop Spalding. Franklin, Mervo, Loyola Blakefield, South River and Dunbar makes up the rest of the Top 10.
