Moore and Hines lead the way in handing the Lakers their first loss

Loyola Blakefield, after dropping its MIAA B Conference debut one week ago, bounced back in a big way, Friday afternoon in Roland Park, as the Dons went on the road and routed previously unbeaten Boys’ Latin, 31-0, for their first victory in their new conference.
Versatile athlete Jayden Moore scored twice in the first quarter, on a 55-yard pass from Marcus Hines and on a 32-yard run, staking the Dons to a 14-0 lead which they still held at halftime. Loyola added to its advantage, in the third quarter, with a 8-yard scoring run from Hines and a 26-yard field goal from Conor Becks, who was also 4-for-4 on his extra-point kicks.
The final Loyola touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Barrett Jorgensen scooped up a blocked punt and returned it to the end zone.
Loyola is now 1-1 on the season, overall and in the B Conference, while BL dropped to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the league. Next Friday, the Dons will return to Blakefield for their home opener against St. Vincent Pallotti, now of the A Conference, while the Lakers will also play an A Conference opponent when they host Gilman on Saturday.
