Poly basketball standout gives pledge to Wojciechowski

Poly High rising senior forward Justin Lewis, the area’s top prospect in the Class of 2020, has given a verbal commitment to Marquette University. Lewis made the announcement in a video posted to his Twitter page late Wednesday morning.

Lewis, 6-foot-8, selected Marquette over Central Florida, UCONN, Maryland, Ohio State, Purdue, Seton Hall Tennessee, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Lewis visited the Big East school last month, and according to several reports, Marquette made him its No. 1 priority during July’s evaluation period.

Marquette is coached by former Cardinal Gibbons star and Baltimore Catholic League Hall of Famer Steve Wojciechowski.

Last season, Lewis averaged 17.3 points and 9.2 rebounds, earning second straight All-Met honors. The Engineers (22-5; No. 2 in final VSN Top 20) won a third straight Class 3A state championship.

Lewis is rated 74th nationally in the Class of 2020 by 247Sports and is 97th in Rivals’ Top 150.
