In a battle between a pair of MIAA B Conference baseball contenders, Severn’s Joe Kotler outdueled Annapolis Area Christian’s Steve Ridings to earn a 4-2 victory for the visiting Admirals, Wednesday afternoon.

Kotler finished with 10 strikeouts and came back in the seventh inning when AACS had runners on second and third with no outs to finish the game.

In the top of the first, Jake Ashworth knocked in Ryan Boulier with a two out double.  In the second, Ben Stringfellow’s two out hit scored Sam Wachs.  Severn went up 3-0 in the third when Ashworth hit a triple and scored on an error.  AACS got one back in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Lane Farmer.

Severn made it 4-1 in the sixth when hits by Jack Treanor and Stringfellow, followed by a walk to Sam Meisenberg, loaded the bases.  Eric Mahaffey replaced Ridings and Ryan Boulier hit a sacrifice fly to score pinch runner David Jaklitsch.

In the bottom of the seventh, AACS loaded the bases with no outs and scored on a balk, putting runners on second and third.  Kotler got the first out on a ground out to third baseman Treanor and the runners could not advance.  Kotler then struck out the next batter and catcher Meisenberg alertly picked the runner off third for the final out of the game.
