Severn baseball opened its 2011 season at home, on Tuesday, with a non-conference MIAA matchup with visiting Beth Tfiloh and the Admirals slugged their way to a 9-1 victory.
Joe Kotler pitched four innings of shutout ball, striking out five to earn the win. Sam Wachs and Jack Treanor each had two hits and three RBI, and Nick Stringfellow added an RBI double.
In addition, Jake Ashworth and Kotler added RBI hits. Sam Meisenberg rounded out the attack with a double. Finally, Keenan Schlegal and Jacob Lantz pitched the three innings of hitless ball to close out the victory.
The Admirals scored four runs in the third and five more in the fifth to account for all of their scoring.
