Century halts Westminster’s record setting 40-game boys lacrosse winning streak

On March 27th, 2018, the Westminster boys’ lacrosse team lost a hard-fought season-opening game against Mount St. Joseph of the powerful MIAA A Conference. Forty-one games and two 4A state championships later, the Owls finally own another loss.

After winning their first three games this spring to stretch their Maryland state public school record winning streak to 40 consecutive games, the Owls suffered a 13-7 loss at Carroll County rival Century, Monday night.

Century (3-0) captured perhaps the biggest win in its program’s history by dominating the face-off battle and further limiting Westminster’s opportunities with outstanding goaltending by Nate Jones (13 saves).

Connor Zonbro paced the Knights’ attack with four goals and Jackson Zimmer had big night with four assists and a goal.
