Hana Leftridge’s RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh was the difference as No. 8 Bel Air High defeated seventh-ranked John Carroll School, 7-6, in a non-league softball contest in Harford County Thursday afternoon.

Leftridge singled home Peyton Hale capping a two-run rally. Trailing 6-5, Maddie Bosley singled and Kat Perea walked. John Carroll turned a double play as Emma Ritter threw out Bosley trying to advance to third after Amanda Criss’ flyout.

Morgan Dvorak singled, advancing Perea second. After Peyton Hale walked, A Dramis reached on an error and Dvorak and Perea both scored, tying hethe game. Leftridge singled to left, plating the lead run in Hale. 

Jules Donnelly reached on an error to start the bottom of the seventh for John Carroll, but Criss retired the next three batters to close out the victory for the Bobcats (8-2 overall) over their neighborhood private school rival. Bosley finished with three singles and drove in a run and Leftridge had 2 RBI.

Ritter, a freshman, homered for the Patriots (6-4), who’ve dropped four or five since a 5-0 start. Sara Dieter and Meg Sheehan each knocked in a run.
