Korean transfer student Yumi Kim scored the game’s only goal in the second half to push Meade to a 1-0 win over visiting Glen Burnie.

These two teams squared off two weeks ago, with the Mustangs winning 4-1.  Tuesday’s matchup as a little closer.

Meade improved to 2-1 both overall and in Anne Arundel County while the Gophers dropped to 0-3 and 0-3 respectively. Alison Blanton made 10 saves in the loss.

“Glen Burnie stepped out and was a different team today,” said Gophers coach Tracee Torrillo.  “They were a team that was determined to win, they just want a win. They played hard and together.”

She added: “ Yumi Kim is Meade’s dominate player. She can run circles around teams if she wanted too. I knew going into this game I needed to shut her down. I put one of my girls on her, sophomore Karissa Dodson who did an amazing job. She held Kim to one goal this time. She was on her the entire time and never gave up.”

Glen Burnie will have No. 3 South River and the Mustangs travel to Arundel, both games will be played Thursday.
