Our Lady of Mount Carmel hosted a tri-meet last night with league rival Friends and Edgewood High School, coming away with victories in both matches, but it was Mount Carmel junior wrestler JT Dulany who captured the attention of everyone.

Dulany, who is legally blind, has been a wrestler at Mount Carmel for three years.  He had won several times by forfeit, and had many losses, mostly by pins.  But last night, midway through the second period in his bout with Edgewood, everyone in the crowd knew this match could be different.

During the first period, Dulany jumped out to a 2-1 lead, almost earning a pin as the period expired, and exchanged points with his opponent in the second period to a 4-2 lead.

In the third period, Dulany found himself down on the mat, but escaped and held on to win 7-4 as the fans and his teammates celebrated.

The Cougars won the meet, 43-36, with pins from Grant Taylor, Ian Arciaga, Brandon Franceschetti, Alex Kovalick and Ben Lesane.  Senior EJ Jackson won by decision 15-4.

In their league match, the Cougars defeated Friends, 48-27, behind pins from Franceschetti, Troy Saunders and Jerome Cosby.
