Bruins star finishes with a hat-trick


Mikey Johnson’s hat-trick fueled a 4-0 Broadneck win over Chesapeake-AA.

Broadneck’s Mikey Johnson often scores goals in bunches and he did so again Tuesday evening as he netted a hat-trick in the 7th-ranked Bruins, 4-0, Anne Arundel County boys soccer victory over Chesapeake.

One of those goals was extra special,

On a Broadneck corner which was played into the box, the ball was volleyed back up top where Johnson greeted it with an acrobatic bicycle strike, driving the ball into the back of the net.

Zach Madairy also scored for the Bruins, while Jaden Smith and Anders Nelson had assists. Griffin Bodziak and Jackson Shaw shared time in the Broadneck goal and Bodzziak collected the only save either one of them were required to make.

In the Chesapeake nets, Maxx Gray had 6 saves and Dillon Shaver had two.
