It’s been three years since John Carroll joined the MIAA A Conference for basketball, and this will be the Patriots first year in the Baltimore Catholic League.

Good thing.  Had John Carroll remained in the B Confernce that league’s title chase may already be over.

Following Friday’s 71-37 rout of visiting St. Vincent Pallotti, John Carroll is now 7-0 this season with all the wins coming against B Conference opponents.  Those victories include wins over last year’s “B” finalists St. Paul’s and Archbishop Curley, as well as Gilman, Annapolis Area Christian, Mount Carmel and Friends.

Friday’s win was sparked by a 21-2 run late in the first quarter that turned an 8-7 deficit into a 28-10 lead and the Patriots rolled from there.

Ronald Scott and Malcolm McMillian paced the offense, scoring 22 and 20 points, respectively and Jared Jones added 13 for head coach Tony Martin.

Eddie Johnson scored a team-high 13 points for Pallotti, while Trevor Taylor and Cameron Bailey combined for 10 points.
