Playing its first Baltimore Catholic League basketball game, since joining the conference this summer, John Carroll routed St. Maria Goretti, 63-44, on Saturday. With the victory, the Patriots improved to 10-0 on the season.
John Carroll jumped out to a 21-3 lead by the end of the first quarter, as they forced the visiting Gaels into 12 turnovers for the quarter and 27 in the game. Ronald Scott led the Patriot scoring attack with 24 points, while adding five rebounds and three assists. In addition, Malcolm McMillan imposed his will with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Coach Tony Martin’s squad also received a strong effort from Jarred Jones, who missed just one shot on his way to 16 points, including 2-for-2 from beyond the three-point line.
St. Maria Goretti was led by sharp shooting senior Dylan Leazier, who finished with 15 points.
