John Carroll’s football team evened its record to 3-3 overall on Friday with a 36-6 victory over visiting St. Frances.
Quarterback Ryan Kirby led the way for the Quakers (2-2 MIAA B Conference), going 7-for-11 for 89 yards and touchdown passes and rushing for a 15-yard score.
Senior wideout DJ Owens caught both of Kirby’s touchdown passes of 8- and 16-yards respectively. The second score came on a critical third down fade pattern that put the game away in the third quarter.
Once again, fullback Kyle Miele carried the load with 20 attempts for 169 yards. Sophomore Alex Gambrell was 3-of-4 in extra point attempts and a perfect 3-for-3 in field goal attempts, the last being a 38-yarder that had plenty of distance.
