The Kenwood girls soccer team won its fifth game of the season, on Saturday, defeating Patapsco, 1-0.

The game was scoreless until the 30th minute, when sophomore Brianna Gilliam unleashed a jalapeno strike into the side netting from 25 yards out.  Pam Critcher had the assist on the goal.

Kenwood assistant coach, Tom Hanlin said, “A first-team all-state keeper wouldn’t have stood a chance with that strike.”

From there, the Bluebirds controlled the possession. The Kenwood defense was outstanding, limiting the Patriot attack to four shots on target (none inside the 18).  Notable performances were put in by Alyssa Williams, Faith Ledford, Amanda Hensler, and Mercedes Butler.  Senior Megan Schoen made four saves for her second shutout of the season. The Bluebirds will take on Pikesville, on Wednesday.
